ANES 1501
Anesthesia Technology Principles I
8 Credit Hours

Students will explore anesthesiology's contribution to patient care and the relationship of the anesthesia technologist to other health care professionals. Focus is on the role of the anesthesia care team, scope of practice, specific duties of the anesthesia technologist. (7 lecture hours, 2 lab hours)

Prerequisite: Program admission required. SURGT 1000 with a grade of C or better, or equivalent or concurrent enrollment in SURGT 1000, and concurrent enrollment in ANES 1510.

ANES 1502
Anesthesia Technology Principles II
11 Credit Hours

Students continue to learn the theory and concepts of the surgical environment as it relates to anesthesia. Topics of discussion will include basic case set-up utilizing anesthesia supplies and equipment. Lastly, there will be an in-depth exploration of the function and handling of anesthesia equipment, supplies for various surgical procedures including general cases, regional anesthesia, and procedural sedation. (10 lecture hours, 2 lab hours)

Prerequisite: Program admission is required. ANES 1501 and ANES 1510, both with a grade of C or better, or equivalent and concurrent enrollment in ANES 1520 and consent of instructor.

ANES 1503
Anesthesia Technology Principles III
4 Credit Hours

Students will explore advanced concepts of anesthesia technology which will be applied towards a practical experience in an operating room. Students will learn proper setup, breakdown for advanced procedures, and how one assists for general, regional, and procedural sedation cases. Preparation for the national certification will also be included. (4 lecture hours)

Prerequisite: ANES 1502 with a grade of C or better, or equivalent. Admission to the program and consent of instructor are required.

ANES 1510
Anesthesia Technology Practicum I
6 Credit Hours

The concepts of anesthesia technology will be applied towards a practical experience in an operating room. Students receive hands-on experience with a mentor to integrate didactic knowledge for proper setup, breakdown, and assistance for general, regional, and procedural sedation cases. (4 lecture hours, 2 lab hours, 8 clinical hours)

Prerequisite: Admission to the program is required. Concurrent enrollment in ANES 1501.

ANES 1520
Anesthesia Technology Practicum II
6 Credit Hours

Students will receive hands-on experience with a mentor to integrate advanced didactic knowledge for proper setup, breakdown, and assistance for general, regional, and procedural sedation cases of anesthesia technology practice in the clinical anesthesia setting. (4 lecture hours, 2 lab hours, 8 clinical hours)

Prerequisite: Program admission is required. ANES 1501 and ANES 1510, both with a grade of C or better, or equivalent and concurrent enrollment in ANES 1502.

ANES 1530
Anesthesia Technology Practicum III
6 Credit Hours

Students will receive advanced hands-on experience with a mentor to integrate didactic knowledge for proper setup, breakdown, and assistance for general, regional, and procedural sedation cases. (4 lecture hours, 1 lab hour, 5 clinical hours)

Prerequisite: Program admission is required. ANES 1502 and ANES 1520, both with a grade of C or better, or equivalent and concurrent enrollment in ANES 1503.
